Gastric acid, gastric juice or stomach acid, is a digestive fluid formed in the stomach and is composed of HCL, KCL, NaCl which are playing a key role in the digestion of Proteins. Gastric Acid mainly produces from the inner lining of the stomach cells. The Other cells in the stomach will produce sodium bicarbonate to balance the acidity in the stomach. The excess secretion of acid leads to the ulcers, gastric acid is mainly regulated by the autonomous Nervous system and several hormones may produce Gastrin which will allow producing too much acid in the stomach, which turns to cause duodenal ulcers, peptic ulcers, pancreatic ulcers, stomach ulcers, intestinal ulcers. The Main production of HCl in the stomach is to protect against the bacterial overgrowth in the gut. Achlorhydria and hypochlorhydria are common digestive problems. These causes several problems like Heartburn, Bloating, Indigestion, gallstones, asthma, impaired Acid secretion, Diarrhea, Mineral deficiency, Iron deficiency. According to the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG), every five out of ten is suffering from Acid-related diseases.
